Who: Flannery "Flan" Fraser
Pronouns: she/her
What: humanish, with powers
Personality
Cheerful to the point of annoying, always upbeat and positive, eager to take on a new challenge and strike up a conversation with anyone. Due to her upbringing, Flan isn't phased by much, and she's got a soft spot for older men with no morals. Though she might sometimes read as sarcastic or patronizing, she sincerely means everything she says and she genuinely is as excited as she sounds. For Flan, there's no such thing as too many exclamation marks. There's also no such thing as a moral event horizon.
Appearance
Flan's pale and freckled, usually sporting a mild sunburn because who can remember to put on sunscreen when you're having a good time? She's always wearing those pink heart shaped sunglasses, though people who know her well might see her without them - and might notice that the colour of her eyes can be best described as black. Flan has long red hair that she wears in a thick braid that crossed over her forehead and goes down to mid-shoulder. It tends to come unraveled when she's using her powers, and there's a lot more hair in those braids than should be possible. She's tall for a woman, though not so much that it's noticeable, though it is noticeable how muscular she is. Flan does a lot of outdoor activities, along with her job of managing the shelving, storage and retrieval of cursed artifacts. If you ask, she'll give you two tickets to the gun show. Big fan of overalls, t-shirts and combat boots though sometimes she wears a leather jacket.
Current Occupation
Manager of Artifact Storage at the William Lyon Mackenzie King Institute of Paranormal Studies. She's a nepotism hire (thanks Uncle Joest!) but despite that, she's genuinely good at her job and passionate about it. She's thrived under the 9-5 environment and has even managed to make a few friends here and there, both among the humans and the less-than-humans who work at the institute.
History
Flan is part of your average human-sacrificing cult, no biggie. You might call her upbringing kidnapping and indoctrination, but she would call it an amazing found-family environment. She worships a god that Flan knows as Mother Abyss, though of course anything that large is going to have many names and many reflections. Some of the extended family uses different names for different aspects, and has different powers and different kinds of sacrifices - but at the end of the day, they're all one big family! She's had a wonderful time travelling the world and seeing the sights, and she's got a love of climbing - mountains, cliff faces, etc. Anything you can name that you can get up, she wants to be up.
Abilities
Falling long distances doesn't bother her. Landing after those falls doesn't hurt either. She's also able to throw herself into the sky, or endless impossible voids where the ground doesn't exist. This is something she can also do to other people, and does so on a regular basis in order to feed her god. Her time spend with Mother Abyss has also given her a taste for fear, which it turns out is totally a thing that you can eat and sustains a person nearly as good as food does. When she's at the height of her powers, Flan is also able to affect the world around her - to cause climbing equipment failures, and for otherwise sturdy rock faces or paths to give way with no warning, and to ensure that the long drops below are endlessly far down. Cold and heat don't bother her too much when she's working, and she's yet to get frostbite in all her years of visiting the eight-thousanders.
